Air Fryer Apple Hand Pies are flaky and have all of the flavors of traditional apple pie. An easy and hassle free dessert, they're portable so you can eat them on the go.
Remove pie crusts from packaging and allow to come to room temperature (per package directions).
On a floured surface, roll out pie crust to 1/8” thick.
Using a circular cookie cutter, cut out the circle shapes for the hand pies.
Put 1-2 apple slices on each crust.
In a small bowl, whisk the egg. Using your finger or a pastry brush, coat the edge of the crust with the egg wash. Fold the dough over the apple slice. Use a fork to crimp the edges of the pie.
Cut three slits in the tops of the pies, to allow steam to vent. Brush both sides of the pie with the egg wash.
Place the pies in the air fryer basket, making sure they aren’t touching. Cook at 330 degrees for 6 minutes. Flip the pies and cook for 3 more minutes.
Allow pies to cool before garnishing.
Notes
Don't overfill the pies or the filling will leak out.
Using a 4" circle cutter, I was able to make 16 hand pies.
The Total Cooking Time is based on cooking 2 batches of pies.
Cooking times may vary by brand. Do a test run & cook 1-2 pies. Adjust cooking times if needed.
For extra crunch and sweetness, sprinkle turbinado sugar over pies before frying.
