Ingredients

  • 8 cups cold water
  • 1 tablespoon Kosher salt
  • 2 large russet potatoes sliced to ⅛ inch thick
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Serving Options:

  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh parsley chopped
  • French onion dip
  • Chip dip your favorite
  • Ketchup

Instructions

  • Pour cold water into large bowl. Add salt and stir until salt is dissolved.
  • Thinly slice the potatoes to ⅛ inch thick.
  • Soak the potatoes in the salted water for 30 minutes.
  • Drain the potatoes and pat dry with paper towel.
  • Preheat the Air Fryer to 330°F for 5 minutes.
  • Add potato slices to large bowl and drizzle with olive oil. Stir to coat.
  • Layer the potatoes in a single, even layer in the preheated air fryer.
  • Cook the potatoes at 330°F for 20-25 minutes or until desired browning. Shake the basket halfway through cooking.
  • Season the potatoes with salt when done cooking, if using.
  • Remove chips from fryer basket & serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Soaking: draws out the starch, which makes for crunchier chips. It also helps to keep the chips from sticking together.
  • Drying: it’s important to dry the potatoes well before cooking. Line a large cookie sheet with paper towels and layer the potatoes between sheets of paper towels.
  • Use potatoes that are a similar size for best results.
  • Layering slices in a single, even layer takes a little longer to cook, but the chips will cook more evenly.
  • Optional serving sauces are not included in the nutritional calculations.
