Ingredients

Burger Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground pepper
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder

Optional Toppings

  • Cheese
  • Red onion
  • White onion
  • Lettuce
  • Tomato
  • Bacon
  • Pickles
  • Ketchup
  • Mustard
  • Mayo
  • Barbecue sauce
  • Buns
  • Large lettuce leaves for a bunless low carb option

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, combine ground beef and seasonings just until combined. Don’t overwork the meat or it will become tough.
  • Divide beef into 4 equal portions. Roll into balls and form into patties. Make a depression in the center of each patty with your thumb (this keeps the patties from swelling up).
  • Preheat Air Fryer to 370 degrees F.
  • Add patties in a single layer into the basket, making sure they aren’t touching. You may need to cook in batches depending on your basket size.
  • Cook for 6-7 minutes, flip burgers and continue cooking until internal temperature reaches 160 degrees F (about 3-5 minutes more). Turn off air fryer.
  • For cheeseburgers, open the basket and place cheese slices on top of patties. Close the basket, allowing the cheese to melt in the residual heat (about 1 minute).
  • Serve immediately with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • I use a lean burger blend but you can also use 85/15 or 80/20 if you prefer.
  • Make patties the same size to ensure even cooking.
  • Cooking temps: 145 degrees = medium; 155 degrees = medium well done.
  • If smoke is a problem, add 1-2 tablespoons of water in the bottom of the basket. You can also use a slice of bread in the bottom basket to soak up the grease.
  • Optional toppings are not included in Nutritional Information.
