In a medium bowl, combine ground beef and seasonings just until combined. Don’t overwork the meat or it will become tough.
Divide beef into 4 equal portions. Roll into balls and form into patties. Make a depression in the center of each patty with your thumb (this keeps the patties from swelling up).
Preheat Air Fryer to 370 degrees F.
Add patties in a single layer into the basket, making sure they aren’t touching. You may need to cook in batches depending on your basket size.
Cook for 6-7 minutes, flip burgers and continue cooking until internal temperature reaches 160 degrees F (about 3-5 minutes more). Turn off air fryer.
For cheeseburgers, open the basket and place cheese slices on top of patties. Close the basket, allowing the cheese to melt in the residual heat (about 1 minute).
Serve immediately with your favorite toppings.
Notes
I use a lean burger blend but you can also use 85/15 or 80/20 if you prefer.
Make patties the same size to ensure even cooking.
Cooking temps: 145 degrees = medium; 155 degrees = medium well done.
If smoke is a problem, add 1-2 tablespoons of water in the bottom of the basket. You can also use a slice of bread in the bottom basket to soak up the grease.
Optional toppings are not included in Nutritional Information.
