I’m a sucker for a good Danish. Not only are they the perfect sweet treat, but they are awesome for brunches and holidays

Traditional Danish recipes require more work when it comes to making the dough, which is why I opted to use refrigerated Pillsbury Crescent Roll dough.

Not only do they have the same delicious taste, using ready-to-bake crescent rolls helps to speed the recipe preparation and is super convenient. And that means you can be devouring these easy breakfast pastries in no time.

Ingredients for Cherry Cheese Danish

Cream cheese – it needs to be softened so allow time for this step

Powdered sugar

Crescent rolls – Pillsbury is my favorite but the store brand works, too

Cherry pie filling – I like to use the kind labeled “more fruit”

How to Make Cherry Cheese Danishes in the Air Fryer

Using an electric mixer, mix the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar in a medium-sized mixing bowl until its smooth and creamy, then set to the side.

While your air fryer is preheating, take the Pillsbury crescent rolls out of the package, but DO NOT unroll them. Instead, cut the dough roll into 8 circles.

Flatten each dough medallion into a 2-3 inch circle, but be sure to leave a small raised rim to contain the cherry filling.

Add the cream cheese mixture and top with the cherry pie filling.

Use a parchment paper liner or spray the bottom of your air fryer basket with a spritz of oil.

Place the Danishes in the basket, making sure they aren’t touching.

Cook for about 6 minutes or until they are golden brown.

Once they are finished cooking, let them cool for about 5 minutes before taking them out of the air fryer basket. Let them cool a little more before serving.

Depending on the size of your basket, or if you are making a double recipe, you may need to cook these in batches.

Oven Instructions

Let the oven preheat to 375 degrees F.

Make the Danishes as the recipe instructs. Rather than placing them in the air fryer, add them to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Cook for 12-15 minutes and allow them to cool slightly before serving or taking them off the baking sheet.

How To Store

Store leftover Danishes in the refrigerator (single layer in airtight container) for 1-2 days.

Can You Make These with Different Flavors?

Absolutely! Explore the baking aisle and see what other pie filling varieties they have. Sugar free pie filling will work, too. The instructions will remain the same no matter what flavor pie filling you use.

Tips for Making

  • You can finish with a simple glaze or a dusting of powdered sugar.
  • For a larger Danish, cut each dough roll into 4-6 pieces and flatten into 3-4” pieces. You’ll need to cook a little longer.
  • Best served warm, but can be served cold or at room temperature if preferred.
  • You can also add other toppings such as nuts, icing, or a crumble.
